Program Description

The Physician-Scientist Program at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, sponsored by the William Osler Society of Fellows in Medicine, is committed to training leaders in academic medicine. The program is designed for candidates with significant research experience (typically MD/PhD or similar extensive research experience) who are interested in primary research careers.

The program consists of two OR three years of intensive clinical work as an Internal Medicine resident, followed by fellowship training and 3 years of mentored research. The program meets the criteria for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) research track. Residents are encouraged, but not required, to pursue subspecialty training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
